We understand how stressful it can be to misplace something while travelling and we’re here to help. Lost property can be handed in at various locations across Townsville Airport, depending on what the item is and where it was found.

Missing Baggage

If you’ve left an item onboard or your baggage hasn’t arrived, the best place to start is with your airline. They’ll be able to help locate your missing belongings.

Lost Your Identification?

All lost identification documentation is handed over to Queensland Police Service. If yours has gone missing, please contact QPS directly.

Lost Something in the Terminal?

If you’ve misplaced something at Townsville Airport, fill out the Lost Property Form below with as much detail as possible. The more information you provide, the easier it is for us to identify your item. We recommend submitting your form within seven days of losing your item

Items We Can’t Hold Onto

For health and safety reasons, some items can’t be kept in lost property. These include:

  • Food and drinks (including containers and unsealed alcohol)
  • Medication and false teeth
  • Personal hygiene products
  • Disposable pens and stationery
  • Baby products (e.g., dummies, bottles)
  • Items with strong odours or possible contamination

Prohibited Items

Security-prohibited or surrendered items will not be stored by Trident Security Services or Townsville Airport.

Unclaimed Lost Property

Townsville Airport supports local charities and donates unclaimed lost property after 30 days. These donations help families in need and may include prams, car seats, children’s toys, clothing, bicycles, books and hats.

What’s the carry-on luggage weight limit?

Carry-on luggage weight limits vary depending on your airline. This is often included in your flight itinerary or booking details. For further clarification, contact your airline directly. 

Are there lockers at Townsville Airport?

Does Townsville Airport offer free Wi-Fi?

Yes, Townsville Airport offers free Wi-Fi to its passengers and visitors, available throughout the terminal. Choose to log in via your social media account or email and opt in to receive updates from the airport and airline sales. 

Is the airport open 24 hours? 

Townsville Airport is open from 4:30 am to 11:30 pm every day. The terminal is not open 24 hours a day. For security reasons, the terminal is in “lockdown” between 11:30 pm and 4:30 am. Passengers and other persons are not permitted to enter the terminal during this time or sleep in the terminal overnight. 

Am I able to leave luggage or keys for an incoming/outgoing passenger to collect?

Due to security regulations, luggage or keys cannot be left in the terminal for collection. The best alternative is to hire a locker and provide your friend or family member with the access code.

How early do I need to be at the airport for my flight?

Most domestic airlines require you to be at the check-in counter at least 60 minutes before departure. Be sure to check the guidelines provided by your airline. 

Are there car rental services at Townsville Airport?

Yes – major rental car companies have desks inside the terminal. Pre-booking is recommended, especially during peak periods. 

How far is Townsville Airport to the city centre?

Townsville Airport is around a 10-minute drive from the city centre. 

Where is the rideshare pick-up zone?

Rideshare pick-up is located outside the terminal in the designated rideshare area.
